Construction Loans
A construction loan doesn't settle in one lump sum — it releases in stages as the build reaches agreed milestones.
Because funds are drawn progressively, interest is generally charged only on the amount drawn so far. That changes how repayments behave during the build compared with a standard loan.
Typical progress stages
- Deposit / slab
- Frame
- Lock-up
- Fit-out
- Practical completion
Things to plan for
- Rent or existing repayments continuing while the build is underway
- Variations to the build contract and how they are funded
- Valuation on completion, and what happens if it comes in under expectation
